You Can Become An Owner Of 1985 Games

What a wild ride this has been. From hand-packed Dungeon Craft in our kitchen in 2019, all the way to a fully fledge company with 50 products and 10 employees. To say it's been a busy 3 years would be an understatement and with 2023 in full swing things have just gotten even crazier for us. 

As of yesterday, we have officially launched our Start Engine, allowing the community who's supported us over the years to actually join the company.

If you're asking yourself, "What is Start Engine?", you're not alone. We are one of the first tabletop companies to use this innovative crowdfunding platform, so we're not shocked it's new to you. To simplify it, Start Engine is essentially Kickstarter for investors. Yes, there are exclusive products and merch to be had, but the biggest benefit is joining our team and gaining shares of the company as we head into a new era of gaming.

The tabletop hobby has shown tremendous growth in the past 10 years. With hobby game sales surpassing $2.69 billion in 2021 and massive community growth supported by a resurgence of role-playing in pop culture. The TTRPG world is filled with opportunities for growth. 

And we have seized every opportunity we can, collaborating with other brands in the space, building our ambassador program to include over 70 content creators, and growing our retail presence by over 7x in just the past six months. Now is our opportunity to really grow to the next level.

It's a big deal for us as a company to get to this stage. We're incredibly proud of the crew we've built and excited for this next year and what it holds for us. We don't expect anything from the amazing community that's already taken us this far, but if you're interested we'd love to have you join the team and help us in the next leg of our journey.

Introducing 1985 Labs

As 2023 kicks off and our past projects come to a close a new chapter for 1985 Games begins. We're extremely excited to announce 1985 Labs, a new leg of the company focused on creating small-run projects that allow us to be more creative and step outside the box.

The goal of the lab is to be able to create without worry and connect with the community. We want to have fun and build products our audience wants, but to do that we need to simplify our Kickstarters and be comfortable with making a few duds.

Thus the lab was born.
